Week of February 5, 2007

Monday (2/5/07) - Snow Day/No school!

Tuesday (2/6/07) - Snow Day/No school!

Wednesday (2/7/07) - Students will brainstorm a list of homophones with their table group.

Thursday (2/8/07) - Students will choose a homophone set, write a sentence including the homophones, and draw a picture that represents the homophones.

Friday (2/9/07) - No school!/Staff professional development.
Week of January 29, 2007

Monday (1/29/07) - Students will engage in pre-reading activities for the "Landlady" by Roahld Dahl. We will discuss foreshadow and imagery.

Tuesday (1/30/07) - Students will begin reading, listening to the audio, and monitoring their comprehension of the "Landlady".

Wednesday (1/31/07) - Students will continue reading, listening to, and monitoring their comprehension of the "Landlady".

Thursday (2/1/07) - Students will prepare to role-play a discussion between the Landlady and a detective. With a partner, students will discuss, interview, and write the dialogue for this role-playing activity.

Friday (2/2/07) -
Students will take the "Landlady" test.
Students will present and hand in their dialogue.

Monday (1/22/07) - NO School for students! Records Day for teachers.
Enjoy your long weekend! :)

Tuesday (1/23/07) - Thursday (1/25/07)
Students will watch "Glory Road".
Students will compare and contrast Slam! with "Glory Road.
Students will make a chart identifying the similarities and differences in Slam! and "Glory Road".

Friday (1/26/07)
Students will present one of their three Slam! project assignments.
Students will engage in active and respectful listening while others are presenting.
Students will provide feedback on their peers' presentations.

Tuesday (1/16/07) - Students will read Chapter 17 of Slam!

Wednesday (1/17/07) - Students will read Chapter 18 of Slam!
Homework: Slam! Project

Thursday (1/18/07) - Students will read Chapter 19 of Slam!
Homework: Slam! Project (all three parts) are due tomorrow.

Friday (1/19/07) - Students will read (and finish) Chapter 20 & 21 of Slam!
Homework: Prepare for your Slam! presentation next week.
