Week of March 26, 2007

We are continuing with our Holocaust unit by beginning a reader's theatre with the "Diary of Anne Frank". All students will be given a journal to write their response to various questions relevant to the Holocaust and Anne Frank study thorough out this unit.

Monday ( 3/26/07) -

Students will reflect on their own family tree and complete a journal entry. Then, we will begin reading the "Diary of Anne Frank". Since this is a play, each student has a reading/speaking part, which should make this an enjoyable unit for them.

Tuesday & Wednesday (3/27/07 - 3/28/07) -
Students will complete a journal entry and then continue reading the "Diary of Anne Frank".

Thursday (3/29/07) -

Students will begin by completing a journal entry. Then, while watching "The Holocaust: A Teenager's Experience" they will answer questions.

Friday (3/30/07) - No school! Spring Break begins - Enjoy! :)



Week of April 2, 2007

There is no school all week due to Spring Break! Students relax and enjoy your time off, because next week we will hit the ground running.

Week of March 19, 2007

We are going to begin studying the Holocaust. This will be our primary focus for this marking period.

Monday (3/19/07) & Tuesday (3/20/07) - Students will build background knowledge for studying the Holocaust. We will go to the library and complete a Wequest on the Holocaust and Life of Anne Frank.

Wednesday (3/21/07) & Thursday (3/22/07) - Students will continue building their background knowledge on the Holocaust. Students will complete a Holocaust scavenger hunt of questions by skimming thorough "Tell Them We Remember".

Friday (3/23/07) - 1/2 Day for students (PD for teachers)
Students will share and discuss the things that they have learned about the Holocuast and Anne Frank's life.

Week of March 12, 2007
Reminder: English EdPerformance testing will take place this week. All students need to be on time, well rested, and ready to do his/her very best! Remember the results of this test are going to determine which classes you are going to take next year. Good luck to all of you! :)

Monday (3/12/07) - Students will be taking the Reading EdPerformance test.

Tuesday (3/13/07) - Students will be taking the Reading EdPerformance test.

Wednesday (3/14/07) -
Students will complete the Reading EdPerformance test.
Note: Conferences tonight from 5-8 p.m. at MMS

Thursday (3/15/07) - 1/2 Day for students
Students will play "Hot Seat" to review the writing process and proofreading marks
Note: Conferences from 12-3 p.m. & 5-8 p.m. at MMS

Friday (3/16/07) - Students will complete Idiom and Similie worksheets.

Week of March 5, 2007

Monday (3/5/07) - Students will revise thier Tortoise and Hare writing.

Tuesday (3/6/07) -
My grade book is closing today. All missing work must be turned in at that time!
Students will peer edit their Tortoise and Hare writing.
Attend Freshman Orientation - 7 p.m. tonight at the high school

Wednesday (3/7/07) - Students will go to the library to return, exchange, or check out a book and silently read.

Thursday (3/8/07) - Students will write a final copy of their Tortoise and Hare writing.

Friday (3/9/07) - 1/2 Day for students (Records Day for teachers)
Students will share/publish their Tortoise and Hare writing.
All students will begin scheduling for next year's classes.

Attention: The English EdPerformance test will be given next week. This test will determine what classes students will be taking next year. This very important test requires that students come to school well rested, prepared, and ready to do their ABSOLUTE BEST! This is a time for students to shine and show what they have learned since this fall. Parents please encourage your student(s) to take this test very seriously since their immediate future depends on these scores. Also make sure your student(s) arrive at school on time.
