Week of January 19, 2009
This is the last week of the 3rd marking period and our essay unit. All missing ELA work must be turned in by the end of the day tomorrow (1/20/09). The final edited and typed copy of the essay is due on Thursday.

Monday, January 19th
(We will continue the AIMS oral reading testing all day today.)
Bell Work: Drafting (define in own words, draw a picture, & rate understanding)
1. Mini Lesson~ “Compiling and Drafting an Essay”
2. Quiet Writing: Put the pieces of your essay together. Begin drafting your essay using the template (Introduction, Body Paragraph 1, Body Paragraph 2, Body Paragraph 3, & Conclusion).
3. Share Time: Read your essay draft as it is to your partner. Awesome A: Listen and use an index card to write down 1 wish and 1 star while Best B read his/her essay. Switch roles. Then, give each other the feedback cards.

Tuesday, January 20th MY GRADE BOOK CLOSES TODAY.
(The morning classes will continue AIMS oral reading testing today.)
Bell Work: Introduction
•Students will continue drafting and begin typing their essay.

Wednesday, January 21st
Bell Work: Conclusion
•Students will continue typing, revise, and edit their essays.

Thursday, January 22nd
Bell Work: Rate how difficult or easy it was to go through the process of writing your essay.
Students will print and evaluate their essays.

Friday, January 23rd
NO SCHOOL for students! 3rd Marking Period grades are due today.
